Nothing like my commute taking an hour to get home cause of road closures from the winds, having to drive the town over to get dinner because my power is out and everything in my immediate area is closed (because the power is out) just to have to go to bed at 7pm, because my dying phone has no service so might as well. And wake up with my power STILL OFF so now I get to go to work after a freezing cold shower extremely pissed off. Hopefully my reptile doesn’t die without her heat lamp. I received NO warning about the power outages. This is a trash state with trash winds and I don’t understand why we haven’t just started moving to underground power systems. They accidentally started a fire turning the power BACK ON in 2019. As well as killed a lady in my county turning off the power earlier than advertised in 2019 and she didn’t get to switch her oxygen - her oxygen machine turned off and she suffocated to death. Best yet, Edison tried to sue the family who owned the property of the Thomas Fire!! They tried to sue the people who just owned the property that their shitty old power lines fell on!! Find a new system or give us a better equipped company!

Power Outage FAQs

What is Power Outage?

Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.

What Causes Power Outages?

  • Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.

What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?

  • Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
  • Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
  • Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
  • Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.
