Damage occurred in the Green Springs Community of Washington County. The first report of damage came in the area of Cleveland Road and Lucky Lane. There were several trees down, as well as an aluminum porch covering torn loose. The reports then came in from Green Spring Church Road, Lombardy Lane, Bowman Road, Lake Road and Clipper Lane/Inlet Circle. There were many reports of trees and power lines down, as well as trees on cars.
Fifteen to twenty trees were reported down along with numerous power outages across the entire county.
A trained spotter reported 1 tree and powerlines downed by thunderstorm wind 4 miles southeast Abingdon on Good Hope Road.
A trained spotter reported powerlines were downed by thunderstorm wind in Glade Spring.
Law enforcement personnel reported several trees and powerlines downed by thunderstorm wind on and along Haskell Station Road near the junction with Reedy Creek Road north of Bristol.
Episodes
A frontal boundary triggered thunderstorms during the afternoon for a second day in a row across southwest Virgina. Trees and powerlines were downed by the storm. One 56 year man in Abingdon was killed when a tree fell while his was walking.
