A large downburst with winds estimated up to 75 mph struck the Alexandria area. Extensive roof damage was reported to buildings along east Main Street and to structures at the De Kalb County Fairgrounds. Numerous trees and power lines were also blown down.

Also want to add that Dominion has had crews out working nearly the entire time to fix the damage that was apparently caused by a drunk driver. I want to thank them for spending their holiday outside working rather than home with their families. This sucks for everyone and I'm sure we are all grateful for their hard work regardless of how long it's taking. Stay safe and warm.
