Arcadia Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
COOP and volunteer snow observers reported that 3 to 5 inches of snow fell across Trempealeau County. The highest reported totals of 6 inches were across the northern part of the county. U.S. Highway 53 was blocked for several hours near Pigeon Falls because of downed power lines.

Trees were blown down across the county. The worst damage occurred between Whitehall and Strum where some of the fallen trees blocked roads or fell on cars. Power lines were also blown down in some communities. A peak wind gust of 69 mph occurred at 11:06 p.m. CST (12:06 a.m. CDT) on October 26th near Arcadia.
Episodes
A line of storms rolled across western Wisconsin during the morning of August 24th. A lightning strike from these storms struck a gas line and started a fire in Eleva (Trempeauleau County). The storms also produced winds strong enough to blow down trees and power lines near Owen (Clark County). Around 900 customers were without power across northern Clark County following the passage of the storm.
Severe thunderstorms developed along a cold front as it moved through western Wisconsin during the evening of June 16th. Isolated wind damage occurred with trees and power lines blown down in Whitehall (Trempealeau County) and in the city of La Crosse (La Crosse County).
A line of severe thunderstorms moved into and across parts of western Wisconsin during the late evening hours on May 2nd and produced damaging winds and large hail. Emergency management in Buffalo, Trempealeau and Jackson Counties reported trees, power lines, homes and roofs damaged along with power outages. The worst wind and hail damage occurred in the community of Blair, WI (Trempealeau County) where virtually every structure was either damaged or completely destroyed. The Blair-Taylor High School roof received major damage and a 25 to 30 unit mobile home park was evacuated after several homes were moved off their foundations rupturing natural gas lines. A power outage in Blair lasted up to 16 hours.
Hail up to the size of golf balls was reported by amateur radio operators, law enforcement officials, storm spotters and the public. Near Mondovi (Buffalo County), corn and soybean fields were shredded by large hail. In addition, trees and power lines were knocked down by thunderstorm wind gusts. Hardest hit were areas between Whitehall and Independence (Trempealeau County), where wind gusts were estimated at up to 80 mph.
