June 25, 2012 - Lightning

Lightning struck a house on Washington Avenue in Middletown Township. The homeowner smelled an odor after the lightning struck a metal French Door. Scorch marks were apparent on the wooden door frame and the metal door knob was fried. The lightning strike also split open an electric recliner's power box and left burns along the baseboard heating system and behind a collectible's cabinet. No injuries were reported.

June 14, 2008 - Thunderstorm Wind

A severe thunderstorm produced wind damage along a southwest to northeast axis in Monmouth County. Wind damage was reported from Freehold Township northeast through Colts Neck Township, Middletown Township and Atlantic Highlands. The worst reported wind damage was in Middletown Township. A portion of Navasink River Road remained closed into the 15th because of downed trees. Power outages lasted into the 15th in both Middletown and Atlantic Highlands.

March 5, 2008 - Thunderstorm Wind

A squall line of severe thunderstorms caused wind damage across eastern Monmouth County. The worst reported damage was in Eatontown where a large uprooted tree crushed a trailer near the bed. A woman had to be rescued from the trailer. A tree ripped a hole in the roof of the trailer next door. The same storm ripped siding from some other homes in the area. Downed trees and closed roadways were reported in Farmingdale, Wall and Neptune. Power outages because of downed wires occurred in Bradley Beach, Eatontown, Farmingdale, Howell and Neptune. Wind gusts of 61 mph and 60 mph were measured in Sandy Hook and Tinton Falls respectively.
