Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Coconino County

Tornado. A tornado touched down about 8 miles west-northwest of Williams in the Junipine Estates neighborhood. Ten 10 structures were damaged and or destroyed (homes and outbuildings). One power poll was blown down and the power was out in the entire community. Camping trailers/mobile homes were turn over. Some rooves were blown off houses.

October 03, 2022

Thunderstorm Wind. A thunderstorm produce damaging winds in the Page area. The hanger at the Page Airport was damaged. The Jet Center windows were blown out by the winds. A few trees were uprooted. The Page ASOS recorded a peak wind gust of 56 MPH at 1238 PM MST. ||Multiple homes in the Champan Village area were damaged by flying debris and falling trees. Two power poles were destroyed when wind blown trees fell on them. This caused power outages in the area.

September 14, 2017

Heavy Rain. Between one and 1.25 inches of rain fell across the Doney Park area of far northeast Flagstaff in under 50 minutes. The power was also knocked out by the storm. Wind gusts to 45 MPH and half inch hail was also reported.

August 15, 2015

Heavy Rain. Heavy rain from a thunderstorm closed the intersection of Dupont and Leroux. Flooding was also reported at Agassiz St and Rt 66. Lightning strikes caused power outages in Downtown Flagstaff. 1/4 inch hail was reported on the NAU Campus.

July 24, 2012

Flash Flood. Heavy rain over the Schultz Fire area caused flash flooding in the community below the fire area. Baseball to soft ball sized rocks were washed across some roads, a culvert was plugged with rocks/debris, some residents lost power, and the flooding cut new channels through previous alluvial fans. County and city crews worked for over two hours to clean and open roads.
