Bangor Power Outages Caused by Weather

A severe thunderstorm knocked down around a dozen poles in Bangor Borough on Chestnut Street from South 6th Street to South 8th Street and South 6th Street and South 7th Street from Broadway Street to Walnut Street. Several trees were also knocked down in the borough. About 1,200 homes and businesses have lost power in Northampton County. Power was not fully restored until the 31st with Bangor the last to come back on line because of the pole damage.
Severe thunderstorms roared through Northampton County during the evening of the 25th. Intense winds produced by the severe storms downed trees and power lines across a good part of the county. The damage began around 9:40 PM EDT in Bath with additional damage in Nazareth, East Bangor and Wind Gap, where tree limbs and wires were down or caught in other wires with even whole trees downed. The most widespread wind damage was reported to be in Bushkill Township. The severe storms knocked out power to some 5,000 customers across Northampton County, which included 10 municipalities.
