Reports from trained spotters and the public ranged from 3 to 6 inches of snow across the county, with up to a quarter of an inch of sleet in addition. Highest reports came from Bastian and Bland. Key Impacts: Icy roads, power outages, snow covered roads, traffic delays.

February 18, 2021 - Winter Storm

Skywarn-trained weather spotters and members of the general public observed ice accumulations from freezing rain ranging from 0.13 to 0.25 inches in thickness across portions of Bland County, including around the communities of Long Spur and Rocky Gap. Sleet accumulations of 1 to 1.4 inches were also observed in these same communities. The icing resulted in at least 1,334 known power outages within the county. Key impacts: power outages; hazardous travel conditions; tree damage; schools closed.

The Bland County 911 Center reported a large tree blown down by high winds along Little Creek Highway outside the community of Bland. High winds also blew down a power pole in the same area.
