What is Power Outage?
Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.
What Causes Power Outages?
- Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
- Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
- Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.
What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?
- Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
- Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
- Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
- Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.

Its been a day and a half and the poles are still lying in the road. This is bullshit. I call and get a computer. the trucks showed up for 20 minutes then left. They need to do something.
It says on the Ohio Edison page that it will be back up by tomorrow night at 11:30. Haven't been home since this morning though. Seems how people can't hear there homes without power and it's pretty cold outside I'm not sure what their expecting people to do. I have a 6 month old infant and am the only source of income in my home so I don't really have the funds to put my family up in a hotel. Don't have anywhere to go and I'm sure I'm not the only person in this situation.. My apartment is fully dependent on electricity I can't hear it any other way, and it's too cold to not have heat when you have baby's. A couple days to a week till it's fixed is completely unacceptable. They don't have to go searching for my monthly payment for my service. This is the United States of America in 2020 we have the resources to fix these problems. They need to contact whoever and pay whatever to get this fixed now. If it were June or July we could afford to be patient, but it's January in central Ohio and it's way too cold for half a town to be going without power for any amount of time.
Theres at least 3 poles down it looks like a tornado went thru and no one is even there yet working on it. It's got to take 2 to 3 days. Even maybe a week
Wondering when the power would be back on....it's been 4 hours you'd think they would have it fixed by now...welcome to moron county
Power is out at my address as well.
