This strong tornado started in the Singleton community along Minshew Road and tracked NE into southern Attala county before dissipating. The tornado grew and intensified quickly along Corinth and Faulkner Roads. Thousands of trees were uprooted or snapped and several homes had minor damage. A few sheds were destroyed and many power lines were downed. The tornado peaked in intensity as it crossed Singleton Road and Highway 35. Significant tree damage occurred in this area. Multiple homes and buildings sustained varying degrees of damage. Many power lines were down here as well. The tornado then crossed Big Springs and Daugherty Roads where substantial tree damage continued. Some homes also sustained mostly minor damage. The tornado weakened some as it approached the county line. Three homes sustained|moderate roof damage and a couple sheds were destroyed. The tornado continued into southern Attala county and steadily decreased in intensity. Damage consisted mostly of tree damage and power lines down. The tornado dissipated after crossing Center Road. This tornado was quite wide (1200 yds, roughly 0.7 miles) and was on the ground for 10.6 miles. Maximum winds were around 115 mph.

Tropical storm force wind gusts resulted in several trees and power lines blown down across the county, including one tree that fell on a home.

After an early mix of freezing rain and sleet, a transition to freezing rain brought rapid accumulations of up to 0.20 inches of ice by the late afternoon and between 0.30 to 0.40 inches across the county by the late evening. Numerous downed trees and tree limbs resulted in power outages for much of the county, and roads and bridges were still iced over or slushy the next day.

A brief EF1 tornado developed during the afternoon of December 29 along Cain Road west of Thomastown, in extreme northeast Madison County and continued into southern Attala County. The tornado uprooted and snapped trees along a path that crossed County Road 4015, 4020, and State Highway 429 before lifting. The strongest damage was along 4020 where the storm took down power lines, uprooted hardwood and softwood trees, destroyed a small outbuilding, as well as a pumphouse. Maximum winds were 105 mph. Total path length was 7.34 miles. Max width was 400 yards in Attala County.

This tornado began along Laurel Hill Road and tracked roughly east along and mostly to the south of Madden Road. The tornado crossed Risher Road and dissipated just east of that location. Many trees were snapped and uprooted along with several power lines and poles down. Some minor damage was noted to a few sheds and barns. Maximum estimated winds 95 MPH.

This tornado began in a wooded area near the Scott and Leake County line north of Low Head Dam Road, where a tornadic debris signature was noted on radar. It then moved eastward across Utah Road, snapping several softwood and hardwood trees. It then shifted southeast crossing Highway 25, snapping softwood trees on McDonald Road. It then impacted New Ground Road where it snapped large softwood tree limbs, uprooted multiple hardwood trees, some of which fell on a power pole and side-swiped a house causing minor roof damage. The tornado then moved east to across Ludlow Road snapping a few softwood trees and once it crossed Highway 13, it continued to snap softwood trees some of which fell on power lines. It continuing snapping large softwood tree limbs and softwood tree trunks as it moved east across US Highway 487 and across Ealy Road. It lifted at Storm Road north of US Highway 500, but not before snapping a few large softwood tree limbs. Maximum estimated winds 95 MPH.

This brief weak tornado touched down along Forest Grove Rd just west of the Natchez Trace and tracked northeast for a little over four miles. The greatest damage was across and near the Natchez Trace. Here, a few dozen trees were snapped or uprooted. A power line or two was blown down along with a tree on a car. The tornado continued northeast and went through the Yockanookany River bottom. The last damage seen was a few snapped pine trees as the tornado crossed Henry Rd where it intersects near Longhills Rd and St. Anne Rd. The maximum wind speed with this tornado was 90 mph.

The tornado crossed the Pearl River and then crossed Highway 16 on the east side of Carthage at Goshen Rd, here several trees were downed and a chicken house on the north side of Highway 16 was damaged with parts of the roof taken off. The estimated maximum wind speed was 107 mph.

Here numerous trees were uprooted and snapped along with a large outbuilding destroyed. Some power lines were down as well. The remainder of the damage was confined to damaged trees as it crossed Midway, Pearl Hill, and Coosa Roads. The estimated maximum winds were 105 mph.

Twelve trees were blown down in the southeast part of the county near Rosebud. Power was interrupted in East Carthage and along Highway 487 East.

The initial damage where the tornado developed was limited to some minor tree damage along Buddy Odom Road. The tornado tracked north northeast and rapidly became strong, with EF2 and low end EF3 damage occurring along the rest of the path. The tornado affected Shiloh and Buddy Odom Roads as well as State Highway 429 in Leake County; and County Roads 4022, 4033, 4126, 4045, 4171, 4142 and State Highway 14 in Attala County. Several mobile homes, including at least two double wides, were completely destroyed at several locations along the path, with debris carried well away from the remains. Impressive tree damage occurred at numerous locations along the path, including a couple of locations where some debarking/denuding was noted. Vehicles were rolled or tossed at several locations. A frame home was pushed off its foundation and a number of frame homes suffered moderate to major roof damage. Numerous power poles were snapped along the path. The widest point of the damage path was around a quarter mile, and was near Highway 14 in Attala County. Maximum winds were around 140 mph. Total path length across Leake and Attala Counties was 10 miles.

A squall line pushed across Leake County and caused considerable damage as it moved through. In Carthage, the High School Band Hall sustained significant roof damage. Just northeast of Carthage, several homes had the tin pealed off the roof along with shingles pealed off others. Numerous trees were blown down along with many power lines. One injury occurred when someone crashed into a fallen tree that was laid across the highway.

Numerous trees were blown down around the county. The greatest damage occurred in the Carthage area. There were also many trees and downed power lines along Highway 43 near Thomastown. One home in Carthage sustained minor roof damage when a large oak tree blew over and the upper limbs of the tree fell onto the roof.

Numerous trees were blown down and caused damage to homes and power lines. A greenhouse and a chicken house were damaged. Several sheds were damaged. Several homes received damage to roofs and to attached porches.
