Episodes
A line of storms moved west to east across the Tennessee Valley in the evening, producing winds that blew down trees and power lines in southern portions of the Valley. Meanwhile, a southerly flow ahead of the storms produced high winds across the mountains of East Tennessee.
A very strong storm system with powerful wind energy and just enough instability for the formation of a line of showers and thunderstorms moved across the Southern Appalachian Region producing widespread; mainly straight line wind damage.
Thunderstorms tracked into east Tennessee during late evening on the 20th and continued into the morning hours on the 21st. Numerous trees and powerlines were downed over the area with winds peaking at 63 mph. Several structures were damaged. One person was injured in a mobile home in Marion County in South Pittsburg.
A front tracked through the area triggering isolated thunderstorms over east Tennessee during the overnight hours. With the aid of a strong low-level wind field a few of the storms produced a damaging wind downing some trees and powerlines.
Numerous trees and powerlines were reported down across the southeastern third of the county; especially around East Ridge, East Brainerd, Collegedale, Ooltewah, and Apison.

UPDATE: According to EPB the 10 fiber optic customers who were without service have now had their services restored. They say they estimate Ben and Jerry's power will be restored by the end of the night. PREVIOUSLY: According to a release from EPB, they have restored power to all that experienced an outage, except the Ben and Jerry's building. Later in the morning EPB also said fiber optics services have been restored to all but 10 of the affected customers.
