UPDATED, 4:03 p. m. 6/17/22. Power outages for Appalachian Power customers in West Virginia soared to more than 64,000 Friday afternoon after powerful storms moved through the Mountain State. Kanawha County had the most outages as of 4 p. m. , with nearly 13,000 customers without power. Cabell and Fayette counties each had more than 8,000 customers without service, while Logan had 5,800, Mingo, 6,700, and Wayne, 4,300. Putnam County had more than 1,400 customers without service.

UPDATED, 5:15 p. m. 4/27/22. A spokesperson for Appalachian Power said crews hoped to have repairs made and service restored by 6 p. m. Wednesday to 6,500 customers left without power.
