Colton Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
A particularly strong thunderstorm formed near the Cascades in Lane county and moved north through eastern Lane, Marion, and Clackamas counties during the evening, producing strong winds and frequent lightning. In Gresham a home was reportedly struck by lightning; no one was injured but there was extensive damage to the house. Lightning hit several transformers, and trees and limbs felled by wind downed power lines, resulting in loss of power service to approximately 4,000 customers in Gresham, Troutdale, and Sandy for most of the evening. Eight miles east of Springfield 70 mph winds blew down numerous trees. Over an inch of rain fell in 45 minutes in the Eugene/Springfield area, resulting in local street flooding.
