Coudersport Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
High winds knocked down numerous trees and utility wires, causing thousands of power outages county-wide. Numerous roads were also closed due to falling trees and wires.
Three to six inches of heavy wet snow caused extensive damage countywide related to leaf-laden trees and limbs falling on power lines. Upwards of six to eight inches of snow fell across the highest elevations.
Non-thunderstorm wind gusts between 50 and 60 mph toppled numerous trees and power lines across Potter County. A large tree fell on a car in Galeton. Numerous power outages affected customers in Galeton Borough.
Trained spotter in Ulysses reported one-half inch ice accumulation from heavy freezing rain. Periods of snow and sleet accumulated to two to four inches by the morning of March 9th. Power outages affecting an undetermined number of Tri-County Electric customers was reported in Genesee Township. Power was restored by the morning of March 10th.

A mix of snow and freezing rain resulted in significant winter weather impacts during the pre-Thanksgiving holiday travel. These included multiple vehicle accidents, road closures, downed trees/wires and power outages. Snow started around 1000 EST with accumulations by late afternoon on the 26th between 2 and 4 inches. Snow continued into the early evening before changing to a period of freezing rain for several hours prior to midnight. The freezing rain eventually changed back to snow with additional lake effect snows into the 27th.
