Lightning struck a pair of 138 kilovolt transmission lines near Crivitz. The power lines run from the Oconto Falls area to Kingsford, Michigan. The loss of the two lines, combined with a third line that was out of service for maintenance, resulted in a blackout for about 75,000 customers in the western half of Upper Michigan.
