Crockett Power Outages Caused by Weather

Volunteer firefighters in Houston County reported multiple downed trees and a down power line due to strong thunderstorm wind gusts.
Bitter cold air and wind overspread SE Texas behind and Arctic front on Valentines Day with wind chill indices below zero for much about a 30 hour period Between Sunday night and Tuesday morning. Increased power demand, wind and ice led to widespread power outages. Bursting pipes caused many to be without water as well.
Trees and power lines were downed around Crockett and the surrounding communities. There was a report of minor deck damage to a residence off of Highway 7.
Wind damage across parts of the Crockett area included portions of an 8 to 10 block section in and around Holiday Inn Express and Crockett Sales & Rentals. Several buildings were moved and some were rolled. Bay doors were blown in and out at additional area businesses. There was also damage to sheds, feeders and business signs. Large air conditioning units on roofs were damaged too. Downed trees caused minor damage to three homes. Power lines were also downed.
Power lines and trees were downed along Highway 7 between Crockett and the county line.
