Snowfall between 18 and 20 inches was reported near Culpeper. Power outages were reported throughout the county due to the weight of the snow on trees and power lines.
Newspaper clippings reported numerous downed trees and power lines across the county. Approximately 700 customers in the city of Culpeper were without power.
Law Enforcement reported a tree down on a power line on Slate Mill Road in Culpeper, VA.

A sharpening surface trough combined with a weak upper level disturbance on July 26th. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed during the late afternoon and early evening across central Virginia. Some storms became severe, producing large hail and gusty winds that downed trees and power lines in Culpeper, Rappahannock and Warren counties.
A warm and moist air mass settled over the Mid Atlantic as a strong cold front approached the region from the Ohio Valley on July 19th. This allowed scattered thunderstorms to develop across north central Virginia during the early afternoon hours and spread east into Maryland through the evening. Several of these storms became severe, producing damaging winds that downed trees and power lines across the region.
After the passage of a cold front, strong winds caused numerous downed trees and powerlines. A wind gust to 76 mph was measured in Boston, VA. A building was significantly damaged in Monterey, VA. A semi trailer was blown over on Interstate 81 near Strasburg, VA.
Scattered thunderstorms with heavy rainfall, high winds, and hail moved through the northern portion of Virginia during the afternoon and early evening of the 29th. In Shenandoah County, trees were downed onto power lines and roads in Woodstock. A rainfall total of 2.86 inches was recorded in town. In Madison County, trees were downed onto roads and utility lines between Aylor and the Robertson River just north of Madison. A few downed trees blocked Route 231 just north of Madison. In addition, gravel roads were washed out between Aylor and Madison and small streams overflowed their banks. A spotter recorded 3.6 inches of rain near Madison. In Culpeper County, a few trees were downed just east of Rixeyville and in Reva. In Fauquier County, two cars were washed off the roadway by flood waters two miles northeast of Hume. Moss Hollow Road (Route 728) was also washed out. Street flooding was reported in Marshall. In Stafford County, penny sized hail was reported near Stafford.
Thunderstorms with winds in excess of 55 MPH and dangerous lightning moved across Greene and Culpeper County between 6:15 and 7:30 PM EDT on the 23rd. In Culpeper County, trees were downed in the Merrimac and Reva areas. Two lightning house fires were reported countywide. In Greene County, trees were downed southeast of Standardsville. Road crews had to clear trees and power lines from Route 33 east of Route 29, Route 633 (Amicus Road), Route 743, and 610.
