Damage stretched from around the intersection of A T Moore Road and Kelly Bridge Road west of Silver City to the Lumpkin area, including Clayton Wallace Road, Sweetgum Drive and Highway 53 north and south of GA400.

Not counting trees on private property, 304 trees were removed from county road right of ways alone. During the storm, at least 30 roads were completely blocked by downed trees and power lines. Fifty six homes reported damage, 5 with major damage and 1 destroyed. Three commercial buildings had damage, 2 minor and 1 major, and Fire Station 1 suffered wind damage to an exterior door and exterior roofing trim. Over 7000 customers were without power, about 70% of the county. Landline phones and cellular service were out in certain parts of the county for over a week. Radar estimated between 1.5 and 2.5 inches of rain fell across the county with 2.37 inches measured near Dawsonville. No injuries were reported.

A sign was blown off of an overpass on Highway 19 and struck a vehicle, no injuries were reported.

Freezing rain began just after sunrise on the morning of the 25th, accumulating on elevated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses through the morning and afternoon hours. Widespread amounts of 0.10 to 0.25 inches of freezing rain were reported. The slick roads resulted in numerous automobile accidents and power outages across the area.

The public reported significant icing in the Big Canoe area of far northwest Dawson county, mainly at elevations just above 2000 feet. Up to 0.33 inch of ice was observed on trees, power lines, and even some road surfaces in the area. The icing extended into northeast Pickens county, where conditions were even worse.

A damage survey conducted by the Cherokee and Dawson county emergency managers confirmed that the damage caused by thunderstorm straight-line winds in northern Cherokee county continued into southwest and central Dawson county. The area of damage began just south of the Hollis Q. Latham Reservoir along the Cherokee/Dawson county line and continued on an east-northeastward track across the southern part of the county crossing Georgia Highway 53 near Dougherty and ended near Georgia Highway 400. Georgia Highway 53 was blocked from downed trees west of Georgia Highway 400. Numerous trees and power lines were down throughout the damage area. Several trees were down on homes causing minor to moderate roof damage.

A cold Canadian air mass remained over the state in the wake of the Arctic front which moved through the north and central Georgia earlier in the week. A weak disturbance aloft moved over the cold air mass early on the 22nd and brought light precipitation to north Georgia. Temperatures in some areas of the far northwest and favorable cold air wedge areas of the northeast were just below freezing. As a result, most of the precipitation during the early morning fell as light freezing rain. A light coating of ice was observed in a few north Georgia counties, mainly on trees and power lines. Ice accumulations were all observed to be less than 1/4 inch. Banks, Cherokee, Dade, Dawson, Forsyth, Lumpkin, and White counties all reported minor accumulations of ice, mainly on trees and power lines. Dade county reported the worst conditions with some roads closed and schools canceled.

The Dawson County Emergency Management Director reported that a thunderstorm downburst resulted in damage to a hen house and adjacent egg storage building on Brenda Lane off Georgia Highway 136 in the Juno community area of northwest Dawson county. There were also a couple of trees down on power lines in the area as well. Pea-sized hail was reported two miles north of McKee.

The Dawson County Emergency Management Director reported that a squall line of thunderstorms with strong straight-line winds had caused considerable damage in the northeast part of the county, northeast of Juno near the Dawson/Lumpkin county line. Numerous large trees were down in the area and several structures and property in the area had received minor to moderate damage. Most of the damage was confined to Greenway Road where three homes sustained minor wind damage, mostly in the form of damage of siding, decks, and fences. A number of large trees were also down in these same areas causing additional damage to property. A couple of work shops were also damaged in the same area when portions of tin roofs were blown off the structures in addition to siding damage. Power lines and power poles were also down. Outside of this area, the public and the Dawson County Emergency Management Director reported that trees were down in other scattered areas about the county, but most notably in the southern part of the county near the Forsyth county line along Cowart and Kelly Bridge Roads. Greenway, Cowart, and Kelly Bridge roads all had to be closed for several hours because of numerous downed trees on the roadways.

The Dawson county Emergency Management Director reported that the tornado that originated in Cherokee county and traveled across Pickens county, entered Dawson county in the Big Canoe area and continued to just east-northeast of the Big Canoe area before dissipating. Two double-wide mobile homes were completely destroyed just east of the Big Canoe area as large trees fell on the structures. While the contents of one were salvagable, those of the other were destroyed. Three injuries occurred at one of these mobile homes as the residents were trapped by the downed trees on the structure. In addition, there were four other homes that received minor damage in the Big Canoe area. Numerous trees and power lines were blown down in the area of the tornado and some roads were temporarily blocked as a result. Dawson county was one of five counties declared in a state of emergency by the governor.

The majority of the damage took place along Georgia Highway 53 from the western end of the county, through Dawsonville, to the eastern end of the county, including Georgia Highway 9. Hundreds of trees, along with power lines, were reported down along Georgia Highway 53. In addition, The First Baptist Church's Youth Center in Dawsonville was damaged and a car on Georgia Highway 9 was leveled by a large oak tree. Several other homes sustained damage in the county. A natural gas line was ruptured by a very large uprooted oak tree on West Highway 53. The damage was caused by a supercell thunderstorm that spawned an F0 to weak F1 tornado after moving further east into Hall and Banks counties.
