Power Outage in Dover, TN

Several hours of severe non-thunderstorm winds resulted in numerous damage reports, including downed and uprooted trees, downed powerlines, and roof and other property damage across all of Stewart County. In Dover, a roof was blown off a garage. The Stewart County emergency manager reported that a record number of 911 calls were received for a day as well as power outages across the county. Damages are estimated.

Up to one tenth of an inch of ice accumulated on elevated surfaces across Stewart County, such as trees and power lines, which resulted in some scattered power outages. However, there was no accumulation on roads and no travel impacts.

Due to temperatures remaining below freezing, ice accumulated on all surfaces including trees, power lines, and roads. A few power lines were knocked down resulting in scattered power outages.||Freezing rain changed to snow around 6am on January 22, with snow totals around 5 inches reported across Stewart County. Emergency management reported 5 inches of snow in Dover, while CoCoRaHS station Dover 7.8 NNE measured 4.9 inches of snow.

Stewart County Emergency Management reported measured a total ice accumulation of 0.3 inches in Dover from freezing rain that fell from the late morning into the evening on February 4. This total also included ice that accumulated from the February 2-3 freezing rain event, which had melted little before the February 4 freezing rain began. Numerous trees and power lines fell across the county with scattered power outages. One tree fell onto a vehicle on Highway 79 west of Dover. Several side streets and secondary roadways were icy in sections.
