Duluth Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
The Gwinnett County Emergency Manager reported trees blown down on power lines in northern Gwinnett County including along Berkeley Lake Road and on Friar Tuck Lane.
The Gwinnett County 911 Center reported that several power lines were down near Rockbridge Road and Lawrenceville Highway near Lilburn. A large tree fell on a vehicle at the entrance to the Idlewylde Apartments on Boggs Road in Duluth. The adult male inside was pinned in the vehicle and had to be extricated by fire officials. Two power lines were also down on South Old Peachtree Road just east-northeast of Duluth. At least one tree was also down on Princess South, just northeast of Lilburn.
Local Atlanta television stations reported that many trees, power lines, and several fences were blown down from southeast of Duluth, to northwest of Lawrenceville, to Lilburn.
The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reported that a large 75-foot Poplar tree fell on a home causing considerable damage to the roof and front porch of the residence. Several other trees were reported down across the county, including some on Peachtree Industrial Boulevard, reported by a storm spotter. Several thousand residents of the county were without power much of the night and nearly 1200 were still without power well into the morning.
