Ellsworth Power Outages Caused by Weather

Ten to fifteen power poles were knocked down along Kansas Highway 4 near the Ellsworth and McPherson county line.
Emergency manager reported five power poles were knocked down near Old Highway 40 at 7th Road near Black Wolf.
The local Cooperative observer and law enforcement reported 9 to 12 inches of snowfall across the county. Some reports of power outages occured due to the weight of the heavy snow.
One to two inches of ice accumulated across Ellsworth County during the ice storm. This resulted in approximately 500 downed power poles and 2000 downed lines. Damage to the electrical infrastructure is estimated at $9.8 million. There was also widespread damage to trees but the cost of the damage is unknown.
