Erwin Power Outages Caused by Weather


November 1, 2014 - Heavy Snow

Two miles south of Erwin snow depth was estimated at four inches. Trees and power lines were reported down across the county due to the weight of the snow.

December 27, 2011 - High Wind

The Erwin newspaper reported utility crews replaced power poles from trees falling on them from the high wind in the Erwin area.

August 5, 2010 - Thunderstorm Wind

Law enforcement personnel reported numerous trees and powerlines downed by thunderstorm winds countywide.

The emergency manager reported non-thunderstorm winds damaged a church steeple in Erwin. Also many trees and powerlines along with a communications tower downed by the winds.

The Johnson City Free Press newspaper reported many trees and and powerlines downed by non-thunderstorm winds countywide. Several homes...businesses and outbuildings in Erwin were also damaged.

December 22, 2004

Strong gradient associated with a cold front produced sustained winds of 45 mph with gusts to 60 mph across the higher elevations of east Tennessee. Numerous trees and powerlines reported down above 2000 feet. A tree fell on a mobile home in Cosby in Cocke County. 12 homes were damaged in the Camp Creek and Greystone communities in Greene County.
