Fleming Island Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
A tree was blown down onto powerlines near the intersection of Holly Ridge Dr and Moody Ave. The downed tree also caused a power outage.
A medium size tree was blown down. A fence and pole barn were damaged by strong winds on the 700 block of Arthur Moore Drive. A large tree was down on power lines at Arthur Moore Drive and Branscomb Drive. A branch was blown into power lines in the 1000 block of Arthur Moore Drive.
A tree and power lines were blown down across Lake Asbury Drive west of Circuit Rider Road. This damage caused a partial road blockage. The time of damage was based on radar.
Two large trees were blown down across the southbound land of Henley Road. One tree fell onto power lines. The time of damage was based on radar.
Multiple lightning events were reported across northeastern Clay county Wednesday night. Two houses were hit by lightning on Azalea Fields Court and Claremont Drive. The houses did not catch fire. Lightning also caused a wildfire in the woods near the 4500 block of County Road 218. There was no estimate on the size of the fire. There were also transformer fires on Moody Avenue and Blanding Boulevard. About 1,500 Clay Electric customers were without power.

Hurricane "Frances"NWS Storm Survey found 7 power boats, 6 sailboats and 1 houseboat destroyed and sunk by a F1 tornado. A 32 ft. boat was picked up and put on top of a houseboat on the other side of the pier. The tornado crossed Black Creek and entered the woods across U.S. highway 17 and damaged trees.
Lightning strikes caused a couple of structure fires. Extent of damage unknown. Power outages were caused across the city by lightning strikes. Reports of power outages received from 3-5 pm.
Numerous trees and powerlines down in Orange Park and Fleming Island
Clay County Emergency Response center reported numerous powerlines down across the county from near Jennings State Forest along Highway 301 toward Orange Park and Green Cove Springs along Highway 17.
