Flemington Power Outages Caused by Weather

Freezing rain fell. A trained spotter in Readington Twp reported 0.08 inches of radial ice accretion. Some higher amounts, up to around a quarter inch, likely occurred, and isolated power outages were reported in the county.

In addition to the flash flooding, an approaching cold front triggered thunderstorms that caused isolated wind damage as well as power outages in New Jersey on the 28th. About 3,000 Atlantic City Electric customers lost power.
A potent thunderstorm rolled through portions of Hunterdon County, NJ during the early evening hours of July 21st. As a result of strong winds produced by the thunderstorm, numerous trees and power lines were knocked down in Delaware Township at 7:20 PM EDT.
A severe thunderstorm, which blew through Hunterdon County, New Jersey during the early evening of June 1st, knocked down power lines all across the county.
A line of severe thunderstorms produced wind damage in Delaware Township, Flemington Borough, High Bridge Borough and Readington Township. In Delaware Township, wind damage occurred on the same block that a tornado moved through on September 25th. A barn was destroyed and a nearby roof from an outbuilding was torn away. Tree limbs were also knocked down and poles were shifted. In High Bridge Borough, County Route 513 was closed to New Jersey State Route 31 because of downed power lines. A toppled large oak tree alone pulled down seven poles. In Readington Township, several wires were knocked down. About 600 homes and businesses lost power in the county and it was totally restored the morning of the 28th.
While the tornado lifted farther southwest in Hunterdon County, a line of severe thunderstorms produced straight line wind damage in Readington Township. More than 25 large trees were knocked down in the township. About 8,000 homes and businesses lost power in the county.
