The Monroe County Emergency Manager reported numerous trees and power lines blown down across the county from Culloden to east of Bolingbroke.

A National Weather Service survey consisting of an analysis of measured wind data, along with reports from Emergency Managers and various other local, state and federal officials, found that tropical storm conditions occurred in the county. There were numerous reports of trees and power lines blown down. Wind speeds were estimated between 35 and 45 mph.

A National Weather Service survey team determined that a long-lived multiple microburst event moved from southeastern Lamar County into west central Monroe County with winds as high as 95 mph. The damage path, around 5 miles wide, entered the county along Brent Road near Lee Williamson Road where an amateur weather station recorded a wind gust of 93 mph. Numerous large hardwood trees were uprooted or snapped as the damage path extended east southeast over 12 miles before ending around the intersection of Shi Road and Highway 41 near Bolingbroke. Some of these trees fell on homes or other structures causing considerable damage. Many power lines were downed across this area as well. No injuries were reported.

Local news media reported numerous trees and power lines blown down across the county. A wind gust of 43 mph was measured west of Forsyth. Radar estimated between 2.5 and 5 inches of rain fell across the county with 4.67 inches measured near Bolingbroke. No injuries were reported.

A National Weather Service survey team found that an EF1 tornado with maximum wind speeds of 110 MPH and a maximum path width of 300 yards touched down west of US Highway 41 near Montpelier Road. The tornado traveled northeast crossing Highway 41 near Old Rumble Road snapping or uprooting numerous trees. The tornado widened as it approached Gose Road west of I-75. More than a hundred trees were |snapped or uprooted in a wooded area west of Gose Road. Along Gose Road, numerous homes sustained roof damage from the wind or from falling trees. The tornado continued northeast crossing I-75 where several trees fell onto cars on the interstate and blocked the highway. The interstate was shut down for several hours due to debris. The tornado continued northeast crossing Lee King Road where it damaged a small garage roof and snapped dozens of trees before crossing Abares Road and Jenkins Road. A couple homes sustained damage in this area due to falling|trees. The tornado began to weaken as it continued northeast crossing Dames Ferry Road then dissipating shortly before entering Lake Juliette. In total, several thousand customers were left without power, 30 homes sustained damage and 1 home was destroyed. A National Weather Service survey team found that an EF0 tornado with maximum wind speeds of 80 MPH and a maximum path width of 250 yards began in southern Monroe County near the intersection of Zebulon Road and Shi Road. The tornado moved north-northeast crossing Hill Road, King Road, U.S Highway 41, Boling Broke Road, I-75, Rumble Road and Deer Creek Road before ending along Jenkins Road south of Lake Juliette after travelling around 9 miles. The broadcast media reported a tree down on power lines on West Johnston Street in Forsyth. Power was out across the city of Forsyth.

A significant winter storm impacted north and portions of central Georgia on Tuesday the 11th and Wednesday the 12th. For areas south of the Atlanta Metropolitan area and into central Georgia, the event began Wednesday morning the 12th. Rain mixed with and changed over to freezing rain through the morning hours, resulting in ice accretions of a tenth (0.1) to a third (0.33) of an inch of ice. Widespread power outages were reported, with some customers without power for over two days. The event ended as a round of light snow Wednesday evening.

The Monroe County Emergency Management Director reported that dozens of trees and several power lines were down throughout the county. Considerable damage was noted in High Falls State Park in the northwest corner of the county and within the city of Forsyth. A motorist was trapped in their vehicle in Forsyth at Georgia Highway 42 and Sharp Street when a large tree fell on the vehicle. The roof was blown off a home three miles south of High Falls State Park. Three other homes in the county suffered minor damage.

The cab of the adjacent truck suffered extensive damage. A female was inside at the time, but escaped without injury Another tree was down across power lines at the intersection of North Lee Street and North Lee Street Extension. The power line damage in this area resulted in over 100 businesses losing power.

The maximum snowfall observed was 2.0 inches within the county. Many areas of the county received less. A few trees and power lines were down.

The Monroe County Emergency Management Director reported that a brief EF0 tornado touched down near Plant Scherer, a Georgia Power Plant on the north side of Lake Juliette in northeast Monroe county just west of the Jones county line. The tornado touched down in a clear cut area, so no damage was observed. The tornado path length was approximately 1/4 mile long with a maximum path width of 50 yards. The maximum wind speed in the tornado was estimated to be 70 mph.

The Monroe County 911 Center reported that hundreds of trees were down, especially in the southern part of the county. Three homes sustained minor to moderate damage as a result of the downed trees. Many parts of the county were left without power and some roads were temporarily blocked from downed trees, especially in the vicinity of Georgia Highway 74 and Georgia Highway 42.

The damage consisted mainly of downed trees throughout this area, including many throughout the city of Forsyth. Several homes were damaged as a result of the downed trees and several power lines were down as well. Johnstonville Road at mile marker 193 was blocked from downed trees and power lines. Several roads were blocked in two subdivisions in the Forsyth area as a result of downed trees. The Riatta subdivision appeared to be the hardest hit where in addition to tree, home, and power line damage, some horse stables were damaged by the strong winds. It was also noted that there were several traffic accidents along Interstate-75 between mile markers 195 and 183.

A strong cold front accompanied a vigorous upper low moving through the eastern U.S. This brought a line of showers and thunderstorms across the entire area during the evening hours of the 10th and the early morning hours of the 11th. A 60-70 knot low-level jet was noted in the warm sector in advance of the cold front. As thunderstorms moved through the area, wind gusts up to 45 mph were observed in the Columbus and Fort Benning areas of west central Georgia. Scattered power outages were reported and a few trees were blown down in western Georgia during the evening and overnight hours.
