We are having rolling black outs at Main and Hillcrest. This has been happening since 2/15 and 2/16. No electricity or internet.

I called Oncor a few minutes after 6am this morning 2/15/21, after waking up freezing and in a LOT of pain (cold makes my health conditions WORSE) due to several medical conditions. I use a walker and could not see anything. I called to report it. My apartment was literally 59 degrees inside. All I could do was literally cry. No heating pads, no hot water for a bath to help, my entire body hurts so bad. The message indicated "rolling black outs lasting 15min-1 hour". It said I could call back to check the status of my 'area' using my phone number associated with my account. I laid down in bed to keep warm and to help my body somehow with all this pain. After falling asleep and then waking up to no electricity? I called Oncor again to check the status of my initial call for an update. However, this time and almost 5 HOURS later (not the 15min-1 hour rolling blackouts as indicated) I still had no power and my apartment was 56 degrees. The automated message as a follow up to my initial call in the morning said that crews were out "...to correct and assess this area..." I've been literally praying and praying and praying for our Heavenly Father to help my pain inside a cold apartment and all others going through this everywhere and the homeless. Within about 15-20 minutes of calling Oncor, (PRAISE GOD..AMEN) my power finally came on at 10:51am. Thank you, Oncor for fixing whatever happened. I can live with 15min-1hour rolling blackouts but not over 5 hours without heat and electricity. I know y'all are busy and I thank you but this was really BRUTAL.

Power Outage FAQs

What is Power Outage?

Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.

What Causes Power Outages?

  • Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.

What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?

  • Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
  • Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
  • Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
  • Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.
