Power Outage in Gainesville, TX

Emergency management reported a roof blown off of a building and power lines down just east of Grand Ave on US Highway 82 in Gainesville.

Extreme cold gripped the county for several days. Overnight lows were near or below 10 degrees Fahrenheit almost all week. The period of February 15-16th was the coldest with low temperatures below zero, and the maximum temperature on the 15th was only around 10 degrees. Wind chill values during the 14th-16th were between 0 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. The cold temperatures resulted in an extreme amount of damage to pipes, infrastructure, and power.

Fire and rescue reported a barn blown into a road, power poles snapped and structures damaged from Lake Kiowa up to Callisburg.

Emergency management reported that a power pole was blown down near the 800 block of CR 219 in Woodbine, TX.

Trees, power lines, and utility poles were knocked down East of Lindsay and into parts of Gainesville. The local newspaper also reported large trees down and snapped power poles at several locations in and around Lindsay.

A weakened tree was knocked down onto a house in Gainesville from sub-severe winds associated with a thunderstorm. The tree also knocked down power lines near the house. The local automated weather station (KGLE) reported a 41 mph wind gust at the same time.

A heatburst from a collapsing thunderstorm in Denton County produced wind gusts up to 74 mph in the city of Gainesville. An awning was torn off a building, trees were uprooted, and two power poles were snapped in half.

Severe thunderstorm winds damaged a metal barn at a residence on FM 3496 near Lake Kiowa, knocked down several trees on the property, and snapped an 80-foot tall cedar tree. A well house was also destroyed and a power line was knocked down.

The emergency manager reported a wind gust of 58 mph and powerlines down in the city of Gainesville.

Strong winds gusting to between 50 and 60 MPH blew power lines and poles over, resulting in power outages near Callisburg. The winds also blew in a huge cloud of dust, which reduced visibilities dramatically.

Bridges and overpasses were covered with ice in Gainesville, and in Rosston trees and power lines accumulated ice. One tree fell due to the weight of the ice, and power outages were reported in Gainesville as power lines were affected. Total ice accumulations were between 3/8 and 1/2 inches.

Tornado number three moved back into Cooke County approximately 6.8 miles northwest of Callisburg(3 ESE Thackerville,Ok) moved northeast and dissipated on the Texas-Oklahoma state line approximately 12 miles North of Callisburg (10 ESE Marietta, Ok) at 0315C.
