EM estimated flat ice accumulation at least one quarter inch along with sleet that created a sheet of ice that was 1 to 2 inches thick in spots. No damage or wide spread power outages were reported.
Downed tree caused power lines to fall on highway 59.
Winds estimated to be 80-90 mph. Multiple power lines down. Several tree branches as large as 8 inches in diameter were snapped and shingles were blown off of a home within the area of K-31 and 2300 Road. Two outbuildings were destroyed about one mile east of the same intersection. The buildings were described as old and not very sturdy.
EM reported around one quarter inch of ice along with an inch of sleet and snow. Sporadic power outages were reported across the county.
A power pole in Garnett was snapped.
Episodes
Low-topped convection in a highly sheared environment brought a narrow path of straight line wind damage from South Central Coffey County beginning around 11:45 pm on January 7th and extending Northeast through West Central and Central Anderson County through approximately 12:40 am on January 8th. Damage was done to trees and power poles and a couple of outbuildings.
