June 8, 2015

Thunderstorms developed ahead of an approaching cold front. As the thunderstorms moved across the Finger Lakes region, they produced winds that downed trees and power lines. Winds were estimated between 55 to 60 mph. Damage was reported on Main Street in Hemlock, on Honeoye Road in Canandaigua, and in West Sparta and Dansville.

August 29, 2009

Low pressure tracked across Ontario and Quebec dragging a cold front across the region. Thunderstorm winds downed trees and power lines in West Sparta, Livingston County.|Another thunderstorm accompanying the front produced a tornado in Ontario County. The tornado initially touched down in the Town of Bristol then moved to the City of Canandaigua. Along West Ridge Run several homes suffered damage to soffits and siding. There was also some structural damage of the homes due to trees falling onto the structures. The tornado produced damage along the west shore of Canandaigua Lake at the Canandaigua Yacht Club. Widespread tree damage was observed at that location with several trees snapped off well above ground. Numerous boats were heavily damaged including a 6500 pound boat, housed in a hoist along a dock that was thrown about 40 yards into the lake where it sunk. Several houses along the lakeshore in the vicinity of Lakeview Lane also sustained minor damage to siding and roofs as well as broken windows from falling trees. The tornado finally lifted in the vicinity of Smith Road.

July 17, 2008

Thunderstorms that crossed parts of the Finger Lakes Region during the morning hours produced three-quarter inch hail and damaging winds estimated nearing 60 mph. The winds downed trees and power lines in Naples with some structural damage reported. Several thousand were left without power.

Thunderstorms moved along a warm front during the late afternoon hours. In Naples, Ontario county, an isolated thunderstorm produced damaging winds which downed trees and power lines.

A cold front crossing during the late afternoon hours brought thunderstorms to the region. The storms reached severe limits over parts of the Finger Lake region. Trees and wires were downed in Lakeville. In the Ontario county town of Seneca, the thunderstorm winds damaged several buildings, blew down a silo, demolished a historic barn and uprooted numerous trees. A funnel was seen with the storm however a damage survey determined the damage was a result of downburst winds. Over a thousand were left without power from the storm.

No power on North Myers Road Geneva Ohio 44041. Power went out just after 7:00 pm. Had seen the Utilities Company service Trucks @ North Myers & Lake Road. By 11:00 pm Trucks were gone and Power Restored to ( Some ) on North Myers. So the House next to me on the North side & the House next to me on the South Side,all 3 of us on the West Side of North Myers Road. They have Power and I Still do not. So why is that? I don't Understand how that can be ! Does anyone else know why that is.? Vernon
