A pickup truck received minor damage from the downed power lines. The ASOS weather station at the Grand Junction Regional Airport measured wind gusts to 60 mph from the winds that flowed out beyond the main microburst impact area where the winds were likely stronger.
Thunderstorm outflow winds blew down power poles.

Episodes
A negatively tilted trough moved through western Colorado on the morning and afternoon of Saturday, June 6th, causing a widespread severe weather event that would become the first derecho to impact the Western Slope in well over a decade. Severe storms produced wind gusts upwards of 60 to 80 mph on average with some gusts topping 80 to 100 mph in some areas due to strong downburst winds. There were multiple reports of uprooted trees, downed power lines, at least one roof was torn off with others damaged, and several houses/cabins and vehicles were damaged by falling trees and/or large hail. Very heavy rain also fell which led to flash flooding in some areas.
This storm began on November 30th and continued into December. Please see the November 2007 Storm Data publication for additional information on this episode. A very moist subtropical flow of air spread across western Colorado ahead of a powerful low pressure system. This produced widespread heavy snow across the mountains along with strong winds. This was a relatively warm system initially causing unseasonably high snow levels and mixed precipitation across much of the mountains. After colder air moved into the area moderate to heavy snow impacted some valleys and basins across western Colorado. Heavy rainfall occurred across some of the lower elevations.

Strong winds along 20 Road downed a large tree which hit power lines and cut off electricity to at least one residence. The falling tree also cracked a storm window. Additionally, the wind blew down a gazebo and tore the roof off a shed.
Winds estimated at over 50 mph knocked down numerous trees on the Grand Mesa and in DeBeque Canyon. Some trees were in excess of 30 feet tall and 1 foot diameter. Power was knocked out in some areas and gates were blown over at Island Acres State Park.
