Power has been out since 10:30 this morning. Your map is saying since 11:30. That’s a lie. I called 20 minutes after it went out. You knew it was before 11:30. I have not had a single follow up. It’s 88° real feel temps. It’s over 80° actual temp. I have no air. No fan. All my food is now going bad. And I’ve received no kind of warning whatsoever. I’m 38 years old and never in my life have I experienced a random power outage without so much as a heads up or bad weather. This day planned? No. Planned would involve letting people know ahead of time. My dog is a St. Bernard. If I was at work today I would have had no idea he was left without a fan or air conditioning. He’s old and he’s heart issues. He could literally die from being in consistent temps over 80°. My house is 81° right now because eof no air. You claim on your maps it will be fixed by 1:15. Not only is it not fixed there’s been zero efforts in making sure people are okay and safe and there’s been zero preparation whatsoever for a supposedly planned outage. This is disgusting. The constant construction in this area over the same exact spots over and over for two years now, yoh had people working on the power lines just a few days ago for one day and that’s it. Still have the signs out there. But not one of you bothered giving us a heads up that something like this could happen in dangerously hot times for disabled and elderly persons. Ridiculous. As much as taxes and prices are in Connecticut I swear I’m better off in Florida

Power Outage FAQs

What is Power Outage?

Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.

What Causes Power Outages?

  • Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.

What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?

  • Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
  • Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
  • Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
  • Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.
