A severe thunderstorm produced a microburst that caused straight-line wind damage in and near the town of Hurt. Winds estimated up to 75 MPH spread out over a path length of 1.5 miles and reached up to 1,750 yards wide. The winds uprooted and snapped numerous trees and blew down several power lines from the south end of Lynn Street to near East Hurt Road. Ten homes suffered minor damage due to the winds from the microburst and the fallen trees, but two more homes suffered major damage.
