Thunderstorm Wind. A local newspaper reported a tree blown down in Lewiston due to a thunderstorm wind gust. No damage was reported. Time estimated from radar data. The local utility company reported 2400 customers without power in the Lewiston and Clarkston area as a result of thunderstorm winds bringing down power lines.

Moist and unstable southerly flow over north Idaho ahead of an offshore upper level low pressure promoted the development of thunderstorms during the afternoon of June 26th over the Idaho Panhandle. While numerous reports of 45 to 55 mph wind gusts and some reports of dime sized hail were received, a few of these storms over the central Idaho panhandle became severe with reports of downed trees and power lines in the Lewiston area.
