Wind gusts up to 60 MPH led to some power outages in Imperial.

Emergency management reports thunderstorm wind gusts estimated at 70 MPH. This resulted in 8-10 power poles snapped and two center pivot irrigation systems overturned.

A Cooperative observer in Imperial reported 5 inches of snowfall. Snowfall amounts ranged from 3 to 6 inches across Chase County with blizzard conditions. Moderate to heavy snow developed Friday morning as northwest winds increased late Friday morning to 30 to 40 mph with gusts from 50 to 60 mph, resulting in blizzard conditions. These strong winds and blizzard conditions continued Friday afternoon and Friday night, then diminished Saturday morning. Power outages were reported in and around Imperial late Friday afternoon. Most roads and highways became closed or very difficult to travel. Snow drifts of 2 to 4 feet were common throughout Chase County.

Cooperative observer at Imperial reported extensive tree damage, an overturned pivot, hay bales blown across the highway and a power outage in downtown Imperial.

Cooperative observer reported a power pole was broken in half in Imperial. Power outages continue for the city of Imperial. Power was also lost at the automated surface observing station at the Imperial Airport.

Chase County Emergency Management reported snapped power poles just northeast of Imperial.

High winds caused tree branches to be blown onto power lines, causing a power outage in Imperial. A 4 foot by 16 foot sign at Yost Farm Supply was blown down. Numerous highway signs were blown down with their posts broken. Power outages were also reported in Champion and Wauneta.

Heavy snow combined with northwest winds of 30 to 45 mph to create blizzard conditions during the evening and overnight hours on April 14th across Chase county. Snowfall amounts of 9 to 12 inches fell across Chase county with snow drifts of 3 to 5 feet, resulting in widespread power outages and the closure of Highway 61.

Blizzard conditions began across Chase County by 4pm MST on April 4th. Although snowfall amounts only ranged from 2 to 4 inches, strong north winds of 30 to 45 mph created blowing snow and reduced visibility to less than a quarter mile during the late afternoon and evening hours. Many roads were closed across the county and areas were without power for several hours.

Strong outflow winds from thunderstorms broke off 18 power poles, overturned 10 center pivot irrigation systems, and snapped trees.

The outflow winds broke off a power pole on the west side of town and also numerous tree limbs.

A supercell thunderstorm produced a tornado in north central Chase County which then crossed into Perkins County before lifting. The tornado broke off power poles along the path.
