Strong Wind. Grissom Airforce Base reported a wind gust of 56 mph during the 9 AM hour. Frequent gusts of 40 to 50 mph from west and northwest were observed in the area through the early afternoon. These wind gusts resulted in instances of tree damage and subsequent power outages.

Winter Weather. Periods of freezing rain with temperatures near freezing accumulated to between 0.10 and 0.20 across the area on New Year's Day, mainly during the morning and early afternoon hours. This led to a few reports of tree limbs down and spotty power outages across the region. There were also reports of a few car accidents as roads were slick in spots.

High Wind. A 60 mph wind gust was recorded just south of the Grissom Air Reserve Base. Numerous reports of tree limbs being blown down were received as well as power line or power pole damage (mainly from falling tree limbs).

Thunderstorm Wind. Grissom AFB officials reported trees down into power lines and a large tree down on a car and home, all occurring on the base.
