Jacksboro Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Thunderstorm winds associated with a tornadic thunderstorm caused damage to a facility on US HWY 281 south of Jacksboro. Metal storage facilities were damaged, large tree branches were broken, and power poles were leaning.
Texas Department of Transportation reported that FM 2210 in southeastern Jack County was closed due to downed power lines from ice accumulations.
A public report indicated that power poles were knocked down approximately 3 miles southwest of the city of Post Oak, TX.
The Jacksboro newspaper posted an article that stated that much of the western portions of Jacksboro lost power for several hours after winds from a thunderstorm damaged numerous power poles.

Extreme cold gripped the county for several days. Overnight lows were near or below 15 degrees Fahrenheit almost all week. The period of February 15-16th was the coldest with low temperatures between 0 to -10 degrees Fahrenheit, and the maximum temperature on the 15th was only in the lower teens. Wind chill values during the 14th-16th were between 0 to -20 degrees Fahrenheit most of the time. The cold temperatures resulted in an extreme amount of damage to pipes, infrastructure, and power.
