Jackson Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Delta produced sustained tropical storm force winds with peak gusts estimated in|the 50 to 60 mph range resulting in minor to moderate wind damage|across the parish. Numerous trees were downed and around 80 percent|of the parish was without power at the peak.
A portion of a tree fell across a truck and boat in the Jackson area. A large tree limb also fell across a power line, with the limb catching fire. Event time was estimated based on radar.
Several power poles were reported blown down at the intersection of Louisiana Highway 964 and Louisiana Highway 955W. Event time was estimated from radar.
A weak tornado touched down near Holly Drive just west of Slaughter and tracked northeast on an intermittent path to just north of the intersection of Louisiana Highway 956 and Louisiana Highway 412. Several houses had roofing shingles and soffit removed. Several large trees were snapped, large tree limbs snapped, and trees down on power lines. Most damage was EF0, with a few areas of low end EF1 damage. Path length was approximately 3 miles and path width 30 yards.
Trees and power lines were blown down at various locations around East Feliciana Parish.
