The Georgia Department of Transportation reported a tree blown down near the intersection of Highway 136 and Price Creek Road. The falling tree brought down power lines. Another tree was blown down near the intersection of Highway 53 and Crossbow Road.

An amateur radio operator reported several trees blown down in the county. The AWOS at the Pickens County Airport measured a wind gust of 48 MPH. Local news media reported hundreds of whole trees and large limbs blown down as well as several power lines. No injuries were reported.

Freezing rain began just after sunrise on the morning of the 25th, accumulating on elevated surfaces, bridges, and overpasses through the morning and afternoon hours. Widespread amounts of 0.10 to 0.25 inches of freezing rain were reported. The slick roads resulted in numerous automobile accidents and power outages across the area.

Several of these trees were down in power lines with a small subdivision located in this region of the county. WSR-88D radar data suggests that damage may well have occurred in southeast Gordon county as well, but no reports of damage were received from that area.

Several power lines were also down in the area with widespread power outages noted in this community. The Burnt Mountain area has elevations generally above 3000 feet. More than a dozen trees were also down in the southeast part of the county around Marble Hill. A number of power outages were noted in this area as well.

A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City, Georgia and the Pickens County Emergency Management Director confirmed that extensive damage to trees and property across the northern half of Pickens county was the result of a 75 mph straight-line thunderstorm winds. Two large chicken houses, just south-southwest of Talking Rock, collapsed and were destroyed. Eight homes in the same general area suffered minor damage from downed trees and/or tree limbs. In Jasper, the roof of a large building was removed by the strong winds. It should be noted, however, that this roof was built on top of an existing roof. Several power lines were also down in the area between Talking Rock and Jasper.

The Pickens County 911 Center reported that three trees and one power line were down in the far southern portion of the county between Talmadge and Tate near the Cherokee county line.

The Pickens and Cherokee County Emergency Management Directors report that a strong thunderstorm downburst had downed nearly 100 trees near the Cherokee county, near and just north of Tate. At least nine power poles were also down, including one main power transmission line. Several roads were blocked from downed trees.

FOX 5 Television of Atlanta reported that the Big Canoe area and the Burnt Hickory mountain area of northeast Pickens county, an area largely with elevations above 2000 feet, experienced significant accumulations of freezing rain. Ice accumulations of 1.0 inch or more were observed in these areas, mostly above 2000 feet elevation. Extensive icing was observed on trees and power lines in the area causing extended power outages to residents in this mountain community. The area was largely inaccessible for the better part of three days except by emergency vehicles. Many residents in the area were left without power for up to three days. The icing extended into far northwest Dawson county as well.

A damage survey conducted by the National Weather Service Forecast Office in Peachtree City confirmed than an EF1 tornado touched down in Pickens county, approximately one mile northeast of Jasper, near the intersection of Georgia Highay 136 and Old Grandview Road and continued on an eastward approximately 3.5 mile-long path before lifting. The maximum path width was determied to be 440 yards with maximum winds estimated at 90 mph. Damage was greatest along Old Grandview Road near the Grandview community. In this area, at least forty 18-inch and less diameter hardwood trees were either uprooted or snapped along the path of the tornado. A number of power lines were down in the area and several utility poles were snapped. While no direct fatalities or injuries were reported, one person was said to have suffered a heart attack because of anxiety during the event. Only minor structural damage was reported.

The public reported that strong easterly winds blew down several trees. Two trees were down south of Blaine, one on a power line. Three trees were down on Jerusalem Church Road near Georgia Highway 53, blocking the road, and a large pine tree was down on Arrowhead Road off Georgia Highway 53.
