Kimball Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
Received report of 15 inches of snow accumulation 8 miles north of Kimball. Additionally, local emergency manager reported power outages in Kimball due to heavy, wet snow causing tree and power line damage.
Downburst wind gusts were estimated as high as 90 mph. There was extensive damage to trees and power poles, with power outages reported. Two buildings were damaged north of Kimball at Highway 71.
Wind gusts of 45 mph and heavy snow created blizzard conditions countywide. Interstate 80 was closed from the Nebraska border to east of Dix. Most of Kimball was without power from fallen utility lines.
Wind gusts were estimated from 60 to 70 mph southwest of Kimball. The strong winds downed power lines.
Estimated 55-60 MPH gusts caused three power poles to be blown over. 1.50 inches of heavy rain also fell over a short time span.
