Power Outage in Kimberling City, MO

A power pole was reported down along Highway 76.

Precipitation started as rain during the afternoon of January 24th before changing over to snow during the late afternoon, with the snow then continuing into the morning of January 25th. Snow amounts between 3 and 7.8 inches fell across the county. A public report of a measured storm total of 7.8 inches of snow was received from 2 SW of Galena, with a measured 6.0 inches in Galena and 5.0 inches in West Branson. Roads became snow covered and slippery. Around 300 power outages also occurred across the county due to the heavy snow. Some schools had early release on January 24th, with numerous schools closed on January 25th.

A National Weather Service storm survey determined that a short lived EF-1 tornado impacted areas near Branson West. The EF-1 tornado had estimated maximum winds of 90 mph along it nearly three quarters of a mile path with a maximum damage path width of 75 yards. Along the tornadoes path damage occurred to roofs and siding of 20 homes. Additionally, multiple trees and power lines were downed.

A significant accumulation of freezing rain, sleet and snow resulted in treacherous travel conditions and scattered power outages. As many as 2500 residences lost power. A boat dock collapsed due to the weight of freezing rain and sleet damaging twenty boats. Ice accretion of near one quarter to three quarters of an inch was followed by 3 to 5 inches of sleet and snow.

High winds knocked over numerous trees causing widespread power outages across Stone County. Power outages were more frequent over southern Stone County.
