In the area of Bruceton Mills, a large number of trees and power lines were downed, and numerous areas were without power for a time.
High wind gusts accompanied a strong low pressure system on December 23rd and continue into December 24th. Measured wind gusts across northern WV ranged between 50to 60mph, sustain winds exceed 40mph. Isolated power outages occurred.
The emergency manager reported trees down and power outages in Kingwood.

The first snow storm of the season started at the highest elevations around 6 PM EDT on 24th. Terra Alta received 12" of snow by 7 AM on 25th. Canaan Valley got 6 inches by 7 AM. Davis received 7" by then, and another 6 inches during the day and evening of 25th. Snow ended by 11 PM EDT on 25th. The snow was wet and heavy, knocking down numerous trees, which fell onto power lines. Traffic accidents, plus fallen trees and power lines blocked many roads, stranding some school buses. In Preston County, routes 32 and 38 were closed. 8500 customers lost electricity, some for 7 days.
A strong area of low pressure moving across the region produced a brief period of high winds across portions of northern West Virginia. Several large trees and power lines were downed by the high wind, with the majority of the damage occurring along the higher elevations of the counties.
