A 81-year-old female died from a heart attack in an Osceola County hotel where she was displaced due to flooding from the storm (indirect). A 95-year-old male died from a heart attack in an Osceola County hotel where he was displaced due to flooding from Ian (indirect).
As major Hurricane Matthew passed east of the Treasure Coast during the early morning hours of October 7, several hours of frequent wind gusts to minimal tropical storm force impacted Osceola County. No structural damage was reported, with only minor damage to trees and vegetation. Up to 5,900 customers were without power at the height of the storm.
