Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Knott County
Flash Flood. Water was ponding onto the KY-2759 near Hindman. In addition, a mudslide also occurred, and a large tree is down. Power lines are also down in the area as a result. The road has been been closed.

Heavy Rain. Local media reported mudslides across a large portion of the county, including Kentucky Highway 2029 southwest of Bolyn and Kentucky Highway 550 west of Hindman where a power pole was knocked down. This latter slide was near Hindman Elementary School, resulting in power to the school being knocked out.

Heavy Rain. A local newspaper relayed a report of a mudslide blocking Kentucky Highway 7 near the Letcher County line, while a mudslide was also reported to have disrupted power near Emmalena. This former slide caused impacts for both the roadway and adjacent train tracks.

Heavy Snow. Snowfall amounts ranged from five inches near Hyden up to eleven inches in the eastern end of the county. Near the end of the storm, over 300 residents were without power.
