March 21, 2022 - Tornado

A tornado developed just south of State Highway 32 between Courtney and Rubottom and moved northeast. Tree limb damage was noted along SH-32. A house and outbuilding received roof damage and power poles were damaged near the intersection of Kennedy Road and Rubottom Road about 3 miles north of Rubottom. Spotters and chasers later observed the tornado approaching State Highway 76 and Oswalt Road before it dissipated.||This storm also produced a number of tornadoes in north Texas prior to moving into Oklahoma (see Storm Data reports for North Central Texas from NWS Fort Worth), including a tornado that approached the Red River in Montague County Texas. A storm survey noted that no damage was observed in the tree line on the north side of the Red River, so this tornado in Love County OK is a separate tornado than the tornado in Montague County TX.

Power has gone out in Boonie Dell 30062 at about 1:00 am.

The power has been out since around 8pm and it is currently 1 am. This is the second time this week. I was midway through decorating a clients house in animal crossing. Killed my whole vibe. Then I got told I live in the trenches by my cousin because the lights go out “too often” and the wifi in my area is absolutely atrocious. He’s not wrong about the wifi but I most definitely do not live in “the trenches”. Anyway, all that to say I am embarrassed and irritated. Turn my lights back on. I need the AC before I decide to go and sleep outside with the roaches. At least they have a nice breeze going on out there.

Power Outage FAQs

What is Power Outage?

Power outage (also called a power cut, a power blackout, power failure or a blackout) is a short-term or a long-term loss of the electric power to a particular area.

What Causes Power Outages?

  • Severe weather (high winds, lightning, winter storms, heat waves, rain or flooding can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Other damage to electric transmission lines (vehicle accidents, trees, and animals can cause damage to power lines or equipment);
  • Repairing, maintenance or upgrades on power lines and equipment.

What are the Top Outage Safety Tips?

  • Stay away from the downed power lines, park vehicles in protected areas;
  • Unplug appliances and electronics, limit cell phone use to conserve battery life;
  • Use portable generators outdoors only, well away from open windows and doors;
  • Pack perishable foods into a cooler, keep refrigerator and freezer doors shut as much as possible.
