Power Outage in Martin, TN

Winds gusted over 58 mph at times. Numerous trees and power lines were knocked down across the county.

Around one-quarter inch of ice resulted in widespread tree and powerline damage and power outages.

Straight-line winds knocked down numerous trees and power lines south of Dresden. Trees fell on a total of seven mobile homes resulting in significant damage. A fatality occurred in one of the mobile homes. A metal building was also damaged near Dresden.

One injury occurred as a result. In addition, A tree fell on a vehicle in transit injuring the driver. A couple of sheds were destroyed.

High winds from Tropical Depression Ike affected Weakley County. Winds were sustained between 20 and 30 knots. Numerous trees and power lines were knocked down. Several homes sustained roof damage. Martin Elementary School had a 50 X 20 ft. section of the roof blown off from the winds. In addition, one house in Dresden and one in Martin had a tree fall on their roofs. One carport was damaged. One home in Palmersville sustained brick damage.

Numerous trees and power lines were knocked down by high winds across the county. Homes and businesses across the county also received damage from the winds. Bryant's Video in Gleason had the roof ripped off and part of the brick veneer in front of the business to collapse. In addition, a sign was blown down in Gleason as well. A roof was blown off a mobile home in Sharon. Other homes had shingle damage as well as outbuildings that were destroyed that were not reinforced.

Four grain silos, a barn and a building where grain is weighed were destroyed. The roof of a church was blown off. Several homes were damaged throughout the county. The University of Tennessee at Martin suffered some damage. One barn was destroyed in the town of Sharon. Numerous large trees and power lines were knocked down.
