A severe thunderstorm knocked down a few trees and power lines in Medford and Medford Lakes.
A severe thunderstorm tore down several trees, tree limbs and wires across central Burlington County. About 16,000 Public Service Electric and Gas Customers lost power in the southern half of New Jersey. Hardest hit in Burlington County were Medford and Southampton.
A severe thunderstorm knocked down over 120 trees in Medford and Evesham Townships. The Hoot Owl section of Medford Township was hit particularly hard. Ten homes suffered moderate damage. About another 50 more suffered minor damage in both the Hoot Owl and Wood Ridge sections. Trees as large as two feet in diameter and 80 feet in height were knocked down. It was estimated that it would take two to three weeks to haul away all of the debris. In Evesham Township, there were 20 calls for downed trees. Three trees caused home damage. Power lines were also knocked down along New Jersey State Route 73. About 1,000 homes and businesses lost power in the two townships. It was restored to all places by the morning of the 30th.
