Strong Wind. The Minnesota Department of Transportation wind sensor near Rice began to measure sustained winds of 40 mph after 145 AM CST, with a peak gust of 55 mph at 200 AM CST. These winds were created by outflow from previous thunderstorms in the area, which lasted through 320 AM CST, before tapering off. These winds caused power lines and tree limbs to be blown down.
