Recent Weather Related Causes of Power Outages in Dade County

Winter Weather. Precipitation started as rain during the early afternoon of January 24th before changing over to snow during the late afternoon, with the snow then continuing into the morning of January 25th. A COOP Observer reported a measured storm total of 2.6 inches of snow in Lockwood. Roads became snow covered and slippery, resulting in a one vehicle injury accident occurring on Highway 160 four miles east of Greenfield as the vehicle slid off the left side of the road and struck a guardrail. Around 30 power outages also occurred across the county due to the snow. Some schools had early release on January 24th, with numerous schools closed on January 25th.

Winter Storm. This storm was a continuation from December 31, 2020. Reports of tree branches down across the county. Estimated total flat ice accumulation of 0.30 to 0.40 inches. Utility companies reported power outages that lasted into the late morning hours.

Thunderstorm Wind. Multiple large limbs were reported down and power poles were snapped in town.

Thunderstorm Wind. Multiple large limbs were blown out of trees. One landed on a vehicle breaking the windshield and causing minor body damage. Other branches were hung in power lines.
