Winter Storm. Precipitation started as rain during the afternoon of January 24th before changing over to snow during the late afternoon, with the snow then continuing into the morning of January 25th. Widespread snow amounts between 5 and 8 inches fell across the county. A COOP observer report of a measured storm total of 8.0 inches of snow was received from 3 miles SSE of Summersville, with a measured 6.5 inches 4 miles WSW of Winona. Roads became snow covered and slippery, with a road closure on Highway 19 between Winona and Alton due to the heavy snow. Around 2600 power outages also occurred across the county due to the heavy snow, with power outages lingering into January 27th. Some schools had early release on January 24th, with numerous schools closed on January 25th and January 26th.
