Monticello Power Outages Caused by Weather
Events
After impacting Benton County, the tornado continued into White county. Damage consisted primarily of downed trees, power poles, and damaged farm outbuildings. However there were several homes damaged, two significantly.
White County airport reported a 49 mph wind gust 9 AM. Frequent gusts of 40 to 50 mph from west and northwest were observed into the early afternoon. These wind gusts resulted in instances of tree damage and subsequent power outages.
Periods of freezing rain with temperatures near freezing accumulated to between 0.10 and 0.20 across the area on New Year's Day, mainly during the morning and early afternoon hours. This led to a few reports of tree limbs down and spotty power outages across the region. There were also reports of a few car accidents as roads were slick in spots.
The public reported a power line was blown down at County Road 500 North and 700 East.
Trees, tree limbs, power lines and poles were all reported down in spots across the county.
